Day 20

Task: Concerts you have attended

Me...

Now that I'm forced to think about it, I realised that I actually haven't been to that many concerts. The first ever concert I went to was to a group called 101. They were the winners of the 1st ever South African Coca Cola popstars. I was such a fan I even got all of them to sign my copy of their CD lol!

2009 was the Anthony Hamilton, best concert I've ever been to, and that's why I'm going to see him again in two week's time.

Late 2009 (or 2010, can't remember)my friend's Honey n Thando got me a Neyo ticket cause I had once said if he ever came to SA I'd even go by myself. They came with :)

In the near future I'd like to see Lira, Zonke and Zakes Bantwini live. As for internationally, a Beyonce, Chris Brown, Erykah Badu or Indiana Arie concert wouldn't hurt;)

Honey...

First concert I went to in jhb was The Game's concert back in 2008.
He was so drunk he could hardly stand up straight.
Shocking moment of the night was when he performed "You wouldn't get far" and girls VOLUNTARILY got on stage to dance to it *Google lyrics for context*

The Neyo concert was a great sing along show. Absolutely Loved it.

Usher's concert early this year was Aaamazing. Nomvula and I sang our lungs out. Still get goose bumps when I think of when he performed "Trading Places".

Beyonce live in Las Vegas left me speechless. If u think her concert DVD are great wait till you see her life. I understand why Mbalula wanted to pay millions...
OK! OK! I'm just letting my imagination run away with me. I'm yet to see Bey perform.

I've also been to lots of concerts\festivals of SA musicians. Especially the jazzy, afropop musicians.
I'm a huge fan of Bra ugh performances.

Sifiso...

Shabba Ranks was probably the first concert I attended at a very young age. Opening acts included the likes of Boom Shaka (can't remember the rest)... But anyway, I passed out before Shabba got on stage. I was that young. (If you do not know who any of the above are, you are too young for me)

In Germany I got to see Boney M. No, it wasn't at Christmas time, but it really would have been awesome if they sang "Mary's Boy Child" and "Little Drummer Boy" although it was June/July. (If you don't know who that is, you are too young for and Christmas was a sad time in your life)

After that I went to catch Kanye West. Was very special to me because he brought his mother out during that show (may her soul rest in peace), but she was the "mama" he sings about in "Hey mama" (which happens to be one of my own mother's favourite tunes - but this is not the place to explain why a woman over 50 listens to the likes of Kanye West, Lil Wayne, L'vovo and Big Nuz.)

After that, I went to go see Jay-Z. Rihanna was an opening act there. *yawns* I lost my voice at that concert. Made for some very creative after party tactics, but making it to the show was an interesting enough story.

Earlier this year, I went to Dance Ritual to checkout Louie Vega, Anane and Josh Milan. Louie interrupted my supper, but it was great to meet him. Then I bumped into Josh Milan after he performed, so that was dope!

My most recent concert was watching TKZee in Nairobi. Great vibes, although, I was probably one of the ten people that knew and understood the TKZee lyrics.

I may have left a few concerts out, but I have watched the Drakensberg Boys' Choir perform about 30 times. This is a calculated guess rather than an exaggeration.
