Task: Would you rather date someone plain with an amazing personality, or someone beautiful with a plain personality?
Me...
Someone beautiful with an amazing personality :)
Oh, that's not an option?? :(
I'd go for personality. Definitely personality. No cream or surgical procedure can enhance your personality:)
Honey...
If you saw one or two (or three) of my ex-boyfriends you'd consciously have to refrain yourself from blurting out " did you seriously date that guy".
Yes I did and yes we did walk in public holding hands.
The thing is I'm a sucker for good conversation. I need to be able to talk to you about all sorts of things. I need to find you funny and mentally captivating.
We should be able to chat till the sun comes up ( or night shift free airtime runs out)
And that is my defence argument for all the "not-so-easy-on-the-eye" guys I have been with.
Sifiso...
If I don't have to date them forever, I'll go with the beautiful person with a plain personality:) (I'm sure that option seldom gets votes)

Day 24
Task: 7 things that cross your mind a lot
Sifiso...
*Will I ever learn how to cook? And if I do learn how to cook, will that affect my desire/motive to get married? (Happy women's day!)
* What don't I need to do? I'm an eastern thinker, so I strive for wei wu wei, which is like the act of inaction that enhances effectiveness. It makes sense in my head
* The details of what I want out of life and what I need to put into life to get it. Figuring out what seed in need to sow to reap the harvest I desire. What practical actions do I need to take, to strive for excellence and significance whilst enhancing the quality of life for those around me.
* Connecting the dots... Not just reflecting on actions, events and thoughts, but also seeing what connects seemingly unconnected disciplines
* Theology and it's validity, relevance and application. Seeking truth.
* What I can do for someone else or a group of people. Seeking solutions for needs I've identified. Unless someone has a problem, I'm unnecessary.
*Dominant thought: Whenever I leave the house, I often wonder whether or not I've closed the garage door
Me...
"I gotta to know right now. Will I be rich? Have everything I want? I stop myself and look to the sky..."
Robin Thicke ~ The Sky
That part of this song somehow sums up what occupies my mind on most days...I think about a lot of things, and I think a lot...
1. Success
Now we all define success in different ways. For me it's being able to give back to my parents, live comfortably and jumping out of bed in the morning cause I can't wait to get to work.
2. Life after death
I hope I don't sound weird about this but I often wonder if one immediately wakes up in another world. Do they become angels and walk around heaven and every now and then get a glimpse of the silly things we do on earth through those CCV camera/TV's?
3. My loved ones
Being based in Cpt meansI don't get to see them as often as I would like
4. When is the right time to play the lotto? Am I brave enough to bare the responsibilities that come with winning?
5. Idris Elba
No need to elaborate
6. Gym
That should I go today, shouldn't I conversation
7. Am I good enough/am I doing enough
I find it hard to satisfy me, I always want to do MORE. They call us perfectionists
Honey...
•my uncle who recently passed on
•life beyond studying
•travelling and getting exposed to different ways of life
•warm weather and all its perks - wearing pretty summer dresses and having picnics
•Kamo :-)
•my mommy
•D'banj's song - "I have a confession"

Day 23
Task: A letter to someone. Anyone
Honey...
Dear : Jo'burg Taxi Driver
Yes, you from MTN taxi rank and Bree.
Please take a minute to sit down and take what I am about to say to heart.
I am the customer and you are the service provider. Please give me the respect a customer deserves.
I am the reason you put food on the table.
Please refrain from brushing my thigh when you change gears. The level of discomfort this brings to my life is un-quantifiable.
A simple thank you would be nice after I've been subjected to counting your money.
It is not my job. So what if I get confused with how much change " 3 R8.50's with a 100 bucks is."
It would be ideal if you kept one of those cheap calculators just by that space where the radio used to be.
This would save passengers the grief of witnessing the arguments over 50cents change.
Please be aware that, contrary to what you have been told, you are transporting human beings with children and loving partners waiting for them at home.
So please stop at a red robot, indicate when you are about to change lanes.
(Please refer to K53 that comes with this letter).
Yes I am black but not all black people speak Zulu. Why should every taxi ride feel like a forced zulu tutorial. Please cater to the demographics of your clients. "Ke a fologa hao fetsa go jika"
We live in a liberal country with freedom to wear whatever we please.
Allow me to wear my dresses and mini skirts as and how I please.
And stop saying "my size"and licking your lips every time I pass.
Please refrain from attempting to grab or touch me when I walk by.
Just because your actions have been condoned over the years doesn't make it less of a sexual harassment act.
Now that I have addressed my grievances I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing us passengers the ability to navigate Jo'burg. I have yet to find a place that I cannot catch a taxi to.
Yours Sincerely
Passenger
Sifiso...
Dear Past Sifiso (Grade 7 - Mrs Moonsamy's class)
This is future-self filling you in on how life has turned out for us.
First is on the agenda is girls. They are not as disgusting as you claimed. We like girls (and their germs now). A lot. I'm not married and it's not on the radar yet.
You've got great taste and I'm still working on that Christina Milian chick you saw on MTV
Next, is career. No, I am not a sports star, sport scientist or sports agent.
I'm kinda in between careers, but never unemployed.
Remember Boiler Room with Vin Diesel? You're gonna watch it again and really get into investing. Then you'll watch Wall Street and be sold to investing.
You're also going to watch Cocktail (Tom Cruise) and you're going to become a master bar tender.
You're gonna start studying music next year (no movie reference).
So you will be a musician, mixologist and an investor all at the same time, so good luck with that.
So my advice: when you choose what study, major in behavioural finance - accounting will cramp your style. Behavioural finance is at the heart of everything you enjoy.
Get into the habit of giving things your best shot. You're quite a lazy dude in high school, but you don't need to spare anything for later in life.
Ask questions and plenty of them - you don't have to figure everything out yourself. You're surrounded by great people.
So you know the money you've saved up, but couldn't decide how to spend? That money will continue to grow throughout high school, until you complete your degree and you're going to spend it on giving your mother a great 50th birthday party! :) Then you'll be broke and start saving again - well played kid!
Last, but not least, is your pals. All the pals you have now, you will keep. Yeah, strangely enough, you'll reconnect with a lot of them after high school. Your crew will get much bigger over time, but you'll more often than not, have a closer connection to the originals. You guys will go through some testing times, some interesting times, wild times and plenty of fun times.
You've chosen good people to have in your life and you're privileged to be chosen, by such great people. These guys will shape many fundamental aspects of your life, but remain aware of the influence you have on them too.
As much you love your friends, never forget to honour your mum and dad - not because they're great parents, but partly because God says so. God is good and He knows His stuff - you're going to need Him A LOT!
Yours sincerely,
Future-self
Me...
Dear Second Year Student
You didn't see this one coming, hey? Everybody seems to focus on the first years or graduates and you're, well, you're like the middle child, you fill in the gap between the youngest and oldest child and someone get lost in it all (this is me speaking as a middle child, so yeah). Well, I am here to tell you that while the whole world is going on with life, I am here and I care (well today anyway). This letter is for you, whether you're a second time first year or really just a fresh second year student doing second year for the first time (sadly I shall not be addressing second time second year students, that is a letter for another day).
First year was fun and all, meeting new people, starting new relationships, migrating from clique to clique; but I'm sure by now you have established who your friends are. Hopefully you have chosen the right ones, who are not only there for the fun times but are also there to help you grow. I trust by now you have dropped the cool act by trying to act like somebody you are not just for the sake of 'Keeping up with the Jonses', here's a tip nobody may have told you before; be yourself! Now that first year has shown you that you are not the smartest, most good looking, fittest or richest kid in school contrary to any labels you may have won in your small town school, you can now start to work with what you have to prepare yourself for life after varsity.
Firstly, study and pass and get good grades. When you graduate you are going to be up some tough competition, simply passing is no longer acceptable, push for higher marks, it'll count in your favour, if this is not possible, focus on passing.
It's ok to not attend all your classes all the time I guess, but attending (and completing) tutorials and setting up one-on-one consultation sessions with your lecturer makes your work easier to understand and can guarantee an improvement in your grades. Also. be consistent; never fall behind in class, even better, pre-read, as draining and unexciting it sounds, it helps. Oh and please do find a day in the week where you just relax, Fridays after your last class is usually ideal.
Secondly, do something not academically related that will add value to your CV, seek some outreach programmes that you can take part in, consider visiting a children's home once a month or help paint houses or schools for charity or whatever.
Join a society but don't just be a member, be part of the executive committee, be active, learn, add value and network.
Gain some work experience in your field of study; a lot of companies offer winter programmes, so take some time off Facebook and rather Google to find out which companies relevant to you offer such, alternatively, a lot of companies are also constantly seeking brand ambassadors and usually advertise on campus, keep your eyes peeled for this, it's flexible, fun and just a great way to earn some extra cash.
Find a mentor; this does not necessarily have to be someone that much older but an experienced person would be beneficial. Seek guidance and learn from them, if your relationship is really successful, they may even help open doors for you.
So yeah, that's my 2 cents worth, I've done the figuring it out part, now all you have to do is execute. There's a boardroom out there waiting for you and the work starts now!
Sincerely,
Been-there, done-that

Day 22
Task: A picture of what you wore today
Me...
Taken by Zonja in one of my favourite boardrooms at the office. It looks like a garden and people write all sorts of silly things on the walls :)
Sifiso...
In my defence, it was snowing in Jozi and I really had no incentive to wear anything, but my PJs.
Honey...
Seems like Honey is a ghost in this task :(

Day 20
Task: Concerts you have attended
Me...
Now that I'm forced to think about it, I realised that I actually haven't been to that many concerts. The first ever concert I went to was to a group called 101. They were the winners of the 1st ever South African Coca Cola popstars. I was such a fan I even got all of them to sign my copy of their CD lol!
2009 was the Anthony Hamilton, best concert I've ever been to, and that's why I'm going to see him again in two week's time.
Late 2009 (or 2010, can't remember)my friend's Honey n Thando got me a Neyo ticket cause I had once said if he ever came to SA I'd even go by myself. They came with :)
In the near future I'd like to see Lira, Zonke and Zakes Bantwini live. As for internationally, a Beyonce, Chris Brown, Erykah Badu or Indiana Arie concert wouldn't hurt;)
Honey...
First concert I went to in jhb was The Game's concert back in 2008.
He was so drunk he could hardly stand up straight.
Shocking moment of the night was when he performed "You wouldn't get far" and girls VOLUNTARILY got on stage to dance to it *Google lyrics for context*
The Neyo concert was a great sing along show. Absolutely Loved it.
Usher's concert early this year was Aaamazing. Nomvula and I sang our lungs out. Still get goose bumps when I think of when he performed "Trading Places".
Beyonce live in Las Vegas left me speechless. If u think her concert DVD are great wait till you see her life. I understand why Mbalula wanted to pay millions...
OK! OK! I'm just letting my imagination run away with me. I'm yet to see Bey perform.
I've also been to lots of concerts\festivals of SA musicians. Especially the jazzy, afropop musicians.
I'm a huge fan of Bra ugh performances.
Sifiso...
Shabba Ranks was probably the first concert I attended at a very young age. Opening acts included the likes of Boom Shaka (can't remember the rest)... But anyway, I passed out before Shabba got on stage. I was that young. (If you do not know who any of the above are, you are too young for me)
In Germany I got to see Boney M. No, it wasn't at Christmas time, but it really would have been awesome if they sang "Mary's Boy Child" and "Little Drummer Boy" although it was June/July. (If you don't know who that is, you are too young for and Christmas was a sad time in your life)
After that I went to catch Kanye West. Was very special to me because he brought his mother out during that show (may her soul rest in peace), but she was the "mama" he sings about in "Hey mama" (which happens to be one of my own mother's favourite tunes - but this is not the place to explain why a woman over 50 listens to the likes of Kanye West, Lil Wayne, L'vovo and Big Nuz.)
After that, I went to go see Jay-Z. Rihanna was an opening act there. *yawns* I lost my voice at that concert. Made for some very creative after party tactics, but making it to the show was an interesting enough story.
Earlier this year, I went to Dance Ritual to checkout Louie Vega, Anane and Josh Milan. Louie interrupted my supper, but it was great to meet him. Then I bumped into Josh Milan after he performed, so that was dope!
My most recent concert was watching TKZee in Nairobi. Great vibes, although, I was probably one of the ten people that knew and understood the TKZee lyrics.
I may have left a few concerts out, but I have watched the Drakensberg Boys' Choir perform about 30 times. This is a calculated guess rather than an exaggeration.

Day 19
Task: A list of all the places you've lived at
Sifiso...
I've only ever lived in Diepkloof, Soweto with brief spells away from home, known school terms. Still home!
Me....
I was born in a township called Ngwelezane which is in a town on the north cost of KZN called Empangeni, I'd give the co-ordinates too but thought that may be a tad bit weird. We have stayed in the same house since and seen neighbours come and go, this was the 1st place I called home and this is still the place I call home.
In 2001 I went to boarding school in Port Shepstone so this was my home away from home for 5 years.
In 2006 I moved to Johannesburg. To me this is what I call my second home because this was a phase of my life where I started formulating the real me; values, beliefs and friends.
Towards the latter part of 2011 work brought me to Stellenbosch where I stayed for a month, thereafter I moved to Durbanville which is located in the Cpt Northern Suburbs. This is home for now, a cosy two bedroom apartment where I stay with my imaginary family who go missing now and then.
Honey...
I was born in a small village in Taung, Northern Cape.
When I was 5yrs old I moved to Mafikeng,North West.
Life has blessed me with the privilege of living in all corners of Mafikeng
From suburbs to townships to villages. I've lost count how many neighbours we've had.
I moved to Jhb and lived at Jubilee Hall residence (Jubes) at Wits university till I couldn't stand the food anymore.
I am now currently living in Braamfontein, still Jhb.

Day 18
Task: Name the TV show you've become addicted to
Honey...
My visiting hours every Sunday evening at around 17h30 are always to someone who has DSTV.
That's just how much I love watching idols.
Sifiso...
Don't watch much TV at all, so I'll go with CNBC Power Lunch. Every weekday at midday.
Me...
I watch a lot of TV but lately I've been especially hooked on SA Idols. The talent this year is just amazing and Twitter just adds to the excitement with all the unofficial commentators(including myself) adding their 2cents!

Day 17
Task: What do you want to be when you get older?
Me...
Outside of my job (whatever it may be when I grow up), I want to be hope and an inspiration to the young (corny as it sounds). I want to help sponsor kids' education and I want to expose them to opportunities they never knew existed.
Honey...
When I was 13yrs old a lady gave a talk at our high school. She drove a "s'latlha" (drop top) and wore high heels. She said she was a CA. I told her one day I'm also gonna be a CA.
Lol, the dream hasn't changed but the reason behind the dream definitely has.
Sifiso...
When I grow up all I wanna be is me - a true original.
I was taught, "The most important thing in life is to be yourself. Unless you can be Batman. Always be Batman".
I've been gifted with a unique combination of gifts and skills, so for this reason I must stir up (rouse/ fan into the flame) the gifts that God has placed within me.

Day 16
Task: If the world were to end tomorrow, what would you do with your remaining time on earth?
Sifiso...
I'd have an end of the earth chill session.
This is a massive gathering of friends and family, with plenty of music (especially live music), some karaoke, board-games (30 Seconds may lead to the war that ends the world, so not sure if we'd play that), prayer, Scripture reading plenty of food (braai) and a bonfire so we can hold hands and sing Ku Ba Ya while we roast marshmallows.
Pretty venue neutral, but somewhere serene, with a great view would do nicely:)
Me...
I would take the next available private jet and fly my family and my grandparents to some exotic island, and we'd have a picnic, eat, catch up, laugh and pray.
Honey...
I'd definitely not study. I'd bunk my lectures and financial accounting tutorial.
I'd be on the first flight home(yes Mafikeng does have an airport). I'd wanna spend the last day in this world with my mom and little sister. Anyone who knows me world know they are my world.
It would be a bonus if all my family members aunts, cousins, uncles especially mamane Lerato and Tinaye. also came along to Mafikeng and of course my few precious friends.
It would be a day full of conversation and laughter and lots of ice cream to go around.
I'd also read my 2 favourite poems for the last time just in case the is no poetry in heaven.
I'd ask my little sister to dance for me one final time.
My last hour on earth would be with all my family members at a night vigil at church. Those who have ever been to my church would understand why.

Day 14
Task: Provide pictures of five celebrity crushes
Honey...
Sifiso...
So this is a challenge I was more than prepared for. The tough part was cutting it down to 5. It's not all aesthetics, so I'll explain how they made it all here.
Marsha Thomason - Aesthetics. She's just beautiful.
Christina Milian - I always disclose to my girlfriends that I would break-up with them for Christina Milian. Aesthetics, but we have a special connection that you might not understand. I love this girl so much,I even watch her act! And I watch her movies a couple of times over. That is quite significant because I'm the only South Africa that has still not seen Tsotsi.
Minnie Dlamini - Local is lekker. I watched Live for her. If someone out there can make this (her and I) happen, I'd be grateful.#
Cassie - Aesthetics, but I think she sent me subliminal messages in her songs which have resulted in her making the cut.
Jessica Alba - Just an all round likable girl. She was all over at some stage and I noticed her.
# = (If my girlfriend is reading this : I'm joking honey)
Me...
5. Diggy Simmons & Jaden Smith: Together their total age comes to 31, which sounds way better than saying Diggy is 17 and Jaden 14...plus I follow neither on Twitter so nobody can call me sick and twisted
4. Rashid Lynn aka Common
3. Justin Timberlake: I honestly think we'd either make really great friends or a super awesome couple, I love his humour, it's so dry and...ag, I just get him man and I know that deep down he'd get me too, like that song of his, Summer Love, I feel like he wrote it for me!
2.Chris Brown: I think we the world needs to forgive him now, just look at how lovingly he's holding that puppy...sometimes I'm borderline obsessed. Sometimes.
1. Idris Elba who has become even sexier in my eyes ever since I met him. He's such a cool guy and was so chilled in his slops, baggy jeans and an old t-shirt, it was as if he didn't know he was IDRIS ELBA (no speaking in third person, nothing)... I would also like to add that he told me I'm hilarious (this means he thinks I'm funny which is pretty cool)

Day 13
Task: Three confessions of your choice
Sifiso...
#1 - I thought today's task was celebrity crushes. Was really ready for that.
#2 - I don't like talking about myself. Actually I almost despise it. I'm far more interested in others and their experiences.
#3 - I have a weakness for books. Books are my buying addiction. I own tons of books that I haven't read.
I know we only need 3, but there's just something I just need to get off my chest.
I have not watched a single episode of this season of Idols. I watched half an episode of last season. There were years of drought between last season and when Heinz won.
But I have seen this Khaya chap on Youtube. My neighbour made me watch him do Superbass
Me...
1. I often secretly wish I worked as a trader on Wall Street. How cool would I be?
2. When I was younger I use be embarrassed about having sinusitis. Now I just hate it but I've accepted it.
3. I never fantasize about my wedding day. If it were by me, I'd probably get married in the absence of the actual ceremony, but I have a mother, grandmother and aunts...
Honey...
Confession #1
Last week Monday I really needed coffee but had forgotten my wallet at home. So I sat close to the Tower(place we buy coffee on campus) then waited for a guy to go buy something.
Then joined the line behind him and started searching frantically for my purse pretending that I just realised I forgot my wallet. Being the nice guy he was offered to pay for my coffee. Classic case of damsel in distress.
I hope he never gets to read this. I'd be soooo embarrassed.
Confession #2
During the June holidays I went home and my little sister had thee most gorgeous pants. When I left I deliberately took them then called to apologise that I had accidentally packed them in my luggage. I feel like such a bad sister
Confession#3
Sometimes when I'm at my place and don't wanna be disturbed I just ignore any knocks on my door and tell anyone who calls to find out where I am that I'm at the library.
Sometimes a girl just needs some alone time.

Day 11
Task: What is your favourite quote?
Sifiso...
Such a difficult task because this is a moving target!
Tempted to go for "Everybody's got a plan... Until they get hit!" purely because it comes from Mike Tyson, but my winner (for today) is
"It is as a soldier that you make love and as a lover that you make war" by some French dude.
It makes great sense when you have an understanding of both love and war.
Honey...
Omg! I have so many. I have a soft spot for words.
"Those who ridicule faith have never endured long enough to witness their dreams unfolding just as they imagined"
"Experience is not what happens to people but what people do with what happens to them."
"If you cannot change something, change your attitude"
"Keep calm and go shopping"
Okay I should stop now.
Me...
Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Day 10
Task: If you could only live off one food and one beverage for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Me...
Food: Chicken Briyani - I love Indian food, if I were to marry an Indian guy, eating at his mom's would probably be an every weekend family affair
Beverage: Milk - need I even elaborate? Calcium. If I drank milk everyday I'd probably have guns of steel by age 80
Sifiso...
Beverage: Horlicks Milkshake
I just love the juxtaposition! Horlicks says "I'm healthy" and milkshake says "I'm naughty". Absolutely delicious compromise!
Food: Medium rare tender steak fillet
All day! Everyday! Great tasting source of protein! When the doctor diagnoses me with gout, I'll just nod in acceptance, then have a steak to remind myself, "It was worth it!". *Tempted to sneakily include an alternative (like red velvet cake), but I respect that task calls for only one food!*
Honey...
Coca Cola
I have been trying to quit quitting Coke for a while now. I could probably buy myself a MINI cooper with the amount of cash I spend on it :-(
Ice Cream
I call it food for the soul. My boyfriend knows ice cream is the easiest way to put an instant smile on my face.
Betroot
Yes that dark red veggie that stains your hands.
I absolutely love it. I prefer it boiled and having it as you would a fruit but I even enjoy the way they make it at township weddings with cheap Mayo and too much vinegar.
